FP2: Crowdstrike Racing by APR Fastest in Wet Second Session
Rainstorm Affects Lap Times Ahead of Qualifying on Saturday Morning

The second 90-minute Free Practice session of the opening day of the 4 Hours of Sepang weekend saw the no4 Crowdstrike Racing by APR Oreca-Gibson set the fastest lap as a rainstorm hit the Sepang International Circuit.
Malthe Jakobsen set a 1m55.667 lap just before the rain became heavier, the Danish drivers lap 2.3 seconds slower than the best lap set in FP1 but 0.532s faster than the second best in FP2, a 1m56.199 by John Falb in the no20 Algarve Pro Racing. Marino Sato was third fastest for Ponos Racing, the Japanese driver posting a 1m56.941.
The no17 CLX Motorsport Ligier-Toyota was the quickest of the ten LMP3 entries, with reigning ELMS LMP3 Champion Paul Lanchere posting a 2m04.114, 0.192s ahead of the no8 Team Virage Ligier driven by Romain Vozniak and a further 0.265s ahead of the no85 R-ace GP Duqueine of Fabien Michal, who set a 2m04.571.
The GT category was headed by the no9 Getspeed Mercedes-AMG of Shigekazu Wakisaka, the Japanese driver’s best lap of 2m08.014 putting him 0.380s ahead of the rest of the GT field but six tenths off the best lap set in FP1.
The no37 QMMF by Getspeed Mercedes-AMG gave the German team a 1-2, with Abdulla Ali Al-Khelaifi lapping in 2m08.394. Yasser Shanin was third fastest in the no66 JMR Corvette, the Australian posting a 2m08.550, just 0.063s ahead of the fastest car in FP1, the no56 Ecurie Ecosse Blackthorn Aston Martin Vantage of Giacomo Petrobelli.
Qualifying for the 2025 4 Hours of Sepang will take place at 09h15 (local) / 01h15 (CET) tomorrow morning, with three 15-minute sessions, one for each category. Race 1 of the weekend will get underway at 13h00 (local)
