2023/24 LMP3 Champions Return to the Asian Le Mans Series

Swiss team to enter a Ligier-Toyota in LMP3

CLX Motorsport / COOL Racing have won almost every trophy there is to win in the LMP3 category.  They won the class in the 2023/24 Asian Le Mans Series and are multiple champions in Michelin Le Mans Cup, Road To Le Mans and the European Le Mans Series.

The Swiss team added the 2025 ELMS LMP3 title at Silverstone last weekend with a crew that included reigning Asian Le Man Series LMP3 Drivers’ Champion Theodor Jensen.

After deciding not to compete in the 2024/25 season, CLX Motorsport return with a single car entry for Swiss driver Kevin Rabin and American Alexander Jacoby.

We caught up with CLX Motorsport Team Principal and multiple LMP2 24 Hours of Le Mans Champion Nicolas Lapierre to talk about the return of the Swiss team to the Asian Le Mans Series.

Q: What was behind the decision to return to the Asian Le Mans Series this season.
Nicolas Lapierre: “We always wanted to go back; we've been looking for it since we left. We are very pleased to go back in the Asian Le Mans Series with a great lineup, with two very young drivers that are joining CLX Motorsport. The competition will be tough, a bit harder than last time we were there with 10 cars entered, and some very good teams. So now really looking forward to Malaysia.”

Q: CLX Motorsport has won almost everything there is to win in the LMP3 category, including Asian Le Mans Series, ELMS, MLMC and Road to Le Mans titles. What is the secret of the team’s success in LMP3?
NL: “I think one of the strengths of the team is to help young drivers to develop. So, we pay a lot of attention to that, to give them the best tools and the best surroundings, to help them improve as quickly as possible. I think I play also a role in this with helping drivers to discover prototype racing, and it has paid off.

“We have been very successful in this category. We like it as well, because seeing these young drivers develop their skills, and we either bring them to the ELMS or even LMP2 or Le Mans 24. It's something I really like, and this is honestly one of my main motivations for running this team.”

Q: Can you tell us anymore about the two drivers that will compete in Sepang this December?
NL: “Alexander is coming from F4, and he is passionate about endurance racing. His wish was to come as soon as possible to endurance and Malaysia will be his first race in LMP3. We have been monitoring Kevin for two years now. He's in the Michelin Le Man Cup, he's doing very well, and he's also keen to join us; they are both very motivated. They like endurance racing, and for me, this was very important in our choice. We’re looking forward to having these two youngsters in the car.”
