Absolute Racing a team with an important message!

Le Mans livery to feature moto OneWorldOneRace

After travel restrictions curtailed Absolute Racing’s return to the Asian Le Mans Series with a two-car entry this season, the Chinese team will make their debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans this year. The team will race a Porsche 911 RSR-19 driven by Indonesian racer, Andrew Haryanto, Alessio Picariello and Marco Seefried.

The livery features the true spirit of the team, and its drive to future ambitions with a powerful message in support of those fighting against discrimination across the world - #OneWorldOneRace.

We caught up with Andrew before the big race to see why he felt the message was so important to share, and how he came up with the idea!

“Coming from a part of the world that is not known for motor racing, and having personally experienced different treatment throughout my motorsport journey, I'm now working with some nice people and everything has come together!

“I want to share my story and show to the world that anyone can race, no matter what your background, ethnicity, gender, religion - we all have the same chance. That’s what we mean with the motto, “One World One Race”.

“Sharing that message as far as possible is the most important thing to me. I have started very late in motorsport and had no motorsport background at all. Those conditions shouldn’t prevent you from giving racing a go! In my first year of racing I spent just €50 for the whole season, today it is a whole different league of course, but the fun still there!

“I never ever dreamed I would one day be able to race at Le Mans! It is not something I thought would be possible, I am after all, just a businessman doing a regular job!

“After a couple of years with Absolute Racing, the possibility started to appear. Our plan was originally to race in the Asian Le Mans Series in preparation, but that was not possible. From then it has been a great effort from Absolute Racing to make this happen. For the team, it is a huge achievement just to be entered in the race. We will work hard and will be aiming for a respectful position, but for first this first year I just want to have a race without major on track events. If you can make a clean race and finish it, it will be perfect.”

Andrew and the rest of the team are making a special journey to the track this week, starting from the home of Porsche in Stuttgart to Le Mans in some rather special cars. Andrew will be behind the wheel of a bright red Porsche 356.

“I was inspired by some old vision I saw from Porsche from the days they drove their race car by normal roads from Stuttgart to Le Mans and then raced it! So, I wanted to experience something like that to relive the magic of those times. It is also a great opportunity to bring the whole team together before the race, and share the Le Mans spirit as the previous generations did!”
