Nielsen Racing

LMP2
Oreca 07 - Gibson

Founded in 2014 by David ‘Sven’ Thompson in Corby, the British team has been a fixture in United Kingdom and European-based series and Championships before joining the Asian Le Mans Series in the 2018/2019 season.

In their first year with the category, Nielsen Racing partnered with Ecurie Ecosse and entered a pair of Ligier JS P3s to finish 3rd and 5th in the LMP3 class. Podium finishes at Fuji International Speedway, Chang International Circuit in Buriram, and Sepang International Circuit were the highlights of their season.

For 2019/2020, the team once again had two entries in the LMP3 class, this time with the Norma M30 – a first for the Asian Le Mans Series. A victory and pole position at the 4 Hours of the Bend, plus second place at both the 4 Hours of Shanghai and 4 Hours of Buriram saw Colin Noble and Tony Wells win the LMP3 Class Championship. A pole position in Shanghai, and a podium finish in Sepang were highlights for their second entry, to finish 5th overall in class. The invite to the 24 Hours of Le Mans secured after class victory.

In the 2021 season, Nielsen Racing finished third and fifth overall in LMP3. The #9 entry finished second at the first 4 Hours of Dubai, with victory coming in Race 3 at Yas Marina Circuit. For the #8 entry podium finishes came in Race 2 in Dubai with a third, before a second place at the first 4 Hours of Abu Dhabi.

Back for the 2022 season, the team entered an Oreca 07 – Gibson in LMP2 and back again into LMP3 with a Ligier JS P320 – Nissan.

Ben Henley, Matt Bell and Rodrigo Sales dominated LMP2 to take the class victory with a clean sweep of race wins and pole positions. The 2019/2020 LMP3 champions, Tony Bell and Colin Noble, were in the fight for class victory until the final race of the season, before finishing fourth in LMP3 with Race 2 victory in Dubai a highlight for the pair.

A return in the 2023 season to defend their title in LMP3 saw them finish 3rd overall in class, with a win at Race 3 Abu Dhabi the highlight. For LMP2 the team finished on the podium in Race 2 Dubai to finish 6th overall.

Back for 2023/2024, Nielsen Racing will entered LMP2 with two Oreca 07 Gibson and finished 10th and 12th.

In 2024/2025 the team finished 6th in LMP2
